The Story Behind Blooms of Independence — Lavender Honey Cider Medina
This cider honors our Great-Great-Grandmother Independence, born on July 4, 1852. Independence was a farmer’s wife and devoted mother in rural Michigan, including to Eliakim III, namesake of our Eliakim Shot the Taxman Farmhouse Ale. While much of her life remains a mystery, the names of her children—Bloomy Gale, Birtie, and Phoebe—reflect a love of nature, creativity, and a quiet independence.
Blooms of Independence captures that spirit. Lavender blooms gently. Honey adds warmth and patience. Together, they honor a woman whose influence was steady, nurturing, and enduring.
